Hey Robert, after reading your thoughtful reviews in the Edmonton Journal, I was curious to read Before I Wake - and really enjoyed it. When I saw Bedtime Story was being released I was delighted to have another of your books. I picked it up last week and devoured it -- finishing it on the plane home from Toronto this evening. Thanks for an engrossing, compelling and unexpected romp. The premise and story are very clever and well put together. It was an excellent read. Kudos to you!

I am writing about your book, and trying to define David's state. It strikes me that he's neither conscious, nor unconscious, but almost "subconscious". And now I'm really confused...

You did win something i think? That is how i discovered you ...short list for something and you live in Victoria...all reasons for me to order your books from the library. In any event it is your writing that has me hooked...First Before I Wake and then, then, Bedtime Stories. WOW! I felt the way i remember feeling when i was 10 or 11 and reading the Adventure series...The Island of Adventure etc. I am 72 and your book had the same affect on me as when I was a kid and reading by flashlight or before school. I read your book late at night when the day was over, spent way too long in the bathroom reading it and re read the last part again. I stayed in bed late this sunday morning going over the final scenes in my head and they worked, they satisfied me. Thank you for taking me back to that pleasure place of losing myself in a book. Your Victoria references were accurate too...I hate coming across places i know and love moved to wrong parts of town.
I will be in Victoria tomorrow, monday 13th and hope to have time to pop into Bolen Books and say thanks in person. I look forward to more books. Have to order your weeping one..Liz

Your 11-year-old son sounds like my almost 11-year-old son, air-quotes and all. That conversation is tonally familiar to me. Are these kids practising for law school?

I'm very much looking forward to the new (coma-less) novel.

Your 11-year-old son should meet my almost 11-year-old son, air-quotes and all! That conversation, tonally, sounds so familiar.

I have the feeling that your Xander is like my Mary. Unmerciful. It gets worse, especially once they hit first-year university and know everything. Enjoy!

I have no idea if I can just write to you on this blog but wanted to say that I read Before I Wake the other day and it was excellent. Read it the whole day and finished that evening, crying at the ending.
Loved the book, am going to get others you wrote and just wanted to tell you that. Keep on writing.
